Preston Gost
Preston Gost wasn’t born with that name, but he earned it. He is the alter ego of Kevin Kennedy of Glass Beads Music. He entered the world a quiet kid from the rust-belt town of Carbon Creek, a place where the skeletons of factories cast long shadows over generations of forgotten families. Preston saw his father’s spirit get crushed by the relentless grind of a system that promised prosperity but delivered only dust. He found his voice not in conversation, but in the raw chords of a battered, second-hand acoustic guitar.
His first songs were raw, guttural cries against the injustices he witnessed daily: the polluted river, the foreclosed homes, the hollowed-out promises of politicians. He started playing at local union meetings and picket lines, his voice a gravelly beacon in the gloom. “Preston Gost” was born—a spectral presence haunting the powerful, his songs the rattling chains of their misdeeds.
Preston lives a life perpetually on the road, a modern-day troubadour whose home is a cramped van and whose stage is any street corner, community hall, or protest encampment that will have him. He is a ghost in the machine, a whisper of dissent that can swell into a roar. His face, etched with the lines of countless miles and a few too many skirmishes, is rarely seen in mainstream media, but his songs are anthems for the marginalized. They are spray-painted on barricades, chanted in marches, and hummed by those who believe that a simple song, sung with enough conviction, can still shake the foundations of the world.
